Broken Puppy Blog

On Wednesday, August 26, I found this puppy (approx. eight months old) in the road with two broken legs. She is a wonderful animal and we are raising funds to cover the costs of surgery and rehab. Keep checking back for updates on her progress.

My wife Rebecca and I are musicians living in North Carolina. We have an awesome rescue dog named Domino (pictured above). Rebecca is a volunteer at the local humane society. From the Broken Puppy and all of us, thank you for your kindness!

UPDATE: Due to the tremendous response to Hope's struggles, we now feel that her medical expenses will be covered. We will not know the exact tally of costs associated with her rehabilitation until late November, but all estimates indicate that her needs have been met. Our gratitude for all who gave to her cause cannot be adequately expressed.

12 weeks have gone by since Hope’s surgery.  She is fully mobile with no complications.  Therefore the Broken Puppy Fund is now officially closed and all remaining funds were donated out this morning.  We had a surplus due to Hope’s remarkable recovery, gracious discounts from some of our medical providers, and of course the generous donations collected through this blog.  Here’s the breakdown:

$250 - United Animal Nations, www.uan.org
$100 - Guilford County Animal Shelter, www.adoptshelterpets.org
$75 - Red Dog Farm, www.reddogfarm.com

United Animal Nations stepped up immediately - before we had even established the blog - with a $300 Lifeline Grant pledge (in the end we did not accept it, due to the success of the blog).  Guilford County Animal Shelter offered their support as well, and though we declined their assistance (we would have been required to surrender Hope) we are thankful.  And Red Dog Farm is a local nonprofit that works tirelessly to foster and save homeless animals.  We salute these organizations and their commitment to animals like Hope.
