Driving home from Pembroke NC on Wednesday afternoon, I found this beautiful puppy in the street. When I got out to try to “shoo” her to the side, I realized she had been hit by a car. This puppy is probably around eight months old and looks like an Australian Shepherd. She has an incredibly sweet and gentle temperament, but was obviously stray, as she has no collar or microchip and was infested with worms and fleas. I took her to a local vet who informed me that she had broken both of her back legs and suggested I put her to sleep. I felt an obligation to try to help this creature, and she is now at a second vet who has put her into a splint. We are in the process of lining up an animal orthopedist to operate on her legs early next week. She will be in therapy for at least a month, and bills for initial visits, surgery, and rehab will be in the thousands.
If you would like to help this puppy (who is yet unnamed), please make a contribution. All proceeds will go directly toward medical bills. She will go to a good home and hopefully have the long and happy life that she deserves. I have set up a paypal account (click the donate button to the right), and cash or checks is an option as well. No amount is too small. Thank you for helping me to save this beautiful animal, and please check back for updates.
